If you've come to this section, you are probably a computer geek like me and want to know how I built this site.

It took a lot more than code and content to build FCARL.Org.

Requirements for Building FCARL.Org

1. A heart full of love for all the homeless animals
2. A ton of divine inspiration
3. Hundreds of megabytes of words and pictures provided by FCARL members
4. An inability to go without sleep for days at a time
5. A good computer and awesome software provided by my real job
6. A good hosting company that could provide the space and features we needed
7. YOU - the members and visitors of this site - because without YOU, there would be no reason for FCARL.Org to exist.

The Technical Stuff

This site is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.0 and above, Netscape 6.0 and above, and AOL Version 6.0 and above. A screen resolution of 800 x 600 is optimal. The site has been tested and found to display and function properly on Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape 4.0, and AOL 5.0 - but the look and feel of the site will not be the same if you use one of these as your browser. In other words, if you don't upgrade your browser, you're missing half the fun!

Basics

FCARL.Org is coded primarily using PHP, but also uses HTML, Javascript, and Perl. Many of the features on the site employ a MySQL database.

This site is hosted on a Linux server and uses many open source applications.

Custom Style Sheets are used throughout the site.

Design

The main colors used through the site are lavendar (#E6E6FA) and honeydew (#F0FFF0), but you will also find deeper and darker greens and purples used in various areas of the site.

The font used on the site Verdana. The FCARL official font is called Good Dog Cool.

All animals pictured on this site were once at the New Albany Animal Shelter. Photographs were taken and provided by FCARL volunteers.

All artwork used on this site is original and copyright protected.
